3rd Annual All Colorado Beer Festival
Carol White - November 16, 2009
The 2009 All Colorado Beer Festival was a success, according to organizer Randy Dipner. The attendance was down slightly from last year, but given the tough economic times, Dipner felt they did really well.
They consolidated the festival to 2 sessions held on one day, Saturday Nov.7, at Mr. Bigg's Event Center. More than 20 breweries were represented with over 60 beers. Music was provided by Brick Yard during the first session, Jeremy Vasquez in the evening.
During the festival this year a separate Saison tasting was held in another room. Jason Yester, Trinity Brewing's brewmaster, and John Schneider of Black Fox Brewing brought 4 different saisons to taste and talk about. This was very well received, and they plan to expand this part of the festival next year.
The festival is run completely by volunteers, over 100 helping out. The proceeds from the festival go to several nonprofits in the Colorado Springs area, including TheatreWorks, Homes For Our Troops, a group that builds housing for veterans with disabilities, and the Project Give! campaign sponsored by The Independent, which provides funds for small non-profits. All good reasons to drink good beer, so put the All Colorado Beer Festival on your calendar for next year!
