Summer can seem to quickly slide by us. We want to keep our readers informed about where to find the new brews. Here is a list of breweries that have recently opened or are getting really close!
Black Shirt Brewing Co. It’s been a long time coming for Black Shirt Brewing, but they are finally getting close to opening. The brewery was founded by brothers Chad and Branden Miller and Chad's wife Carissa. They describe themselves as focusing on "creating unique, assertive, vibrant, complex, and ultimately perfectly-balanced beer. We do everything by hand, in small batches. No gimmicks. No bull shit." Look for the Red Ale Project coming soon. Located in the RiNo Art District in Denver, 3719 Walnut St.
Bootstrap Brewing opened their doors last month on June 20th, and are kickin' it into gear! Not only are the beers selling well in Niwot at the taproom, they’re pouring at the likes of Oskar Blues and West End Tavern. Located at 6778 North 79th Street in Niwot, 303-652-4186
Colorado Mountain Brewery is readying their new location, CMB At The Roundhouse, for an August opening. The new location at the corner of 21st and Hwy 24 on the west side of Colorado Springs will feature the brewery's great food & beer, and will also be a taphouse with 40 taps. They plan to offer some of the smaller batch, hard to find Colorado craft beers. Can't wait for this one! (Five blocks from our office)
Copper Club Brewing Company. This is a joint venture between 2 couples. Daniel & Michele Collins are avid homebrewers, and recently opened Kettles Homebrew Supply in Fruita. They have teamed up with Brian & Lori Gregor to open Copper Club Brewing Co. next door to the homebrew supply store. They have submitted their paperwork for licensing, are gathering equipment and starting construction on the space shortly. The hope is to open early fall, Octoberish. 233 E. Aspen Ave. in Fruita.
Crabtree Brewing in Greeley will be opening their new taproom at their new brewery location on August 8th. The big new space will allow Crabtree to expand their production capacity, have a larger taproom, and give suds sippers a cool place to sit under shade trees in the Beer Garden. The new address is 2961 29th St. in Greeley.
Hogshead Brewery in "Slo-Hi"opened June 15th. This location in the Highlands neighborhood of Denver was designed to "allow a local clientele, as well as beer aficionados and lovers of good times a central spot in Denver to enjoy a proper pint and have a chat." The Brewmaster Stephen Kirby hails from the UK, and the emphasis is on cask-conditioned, unfiltered, English-style ales. They are located at 4460 W. 29th Ave., Denver, CO 80212, 303-495-3105.
Gravity Brewing in Louisville is pulling it together. Licensing has arrived, the brewery is being finished, and they plan to brew their first batch this weekend. John Frazee, one of the founders and brewer, says they plan to open mid to late August. Tentatively, the beers they plan to have at opening will include a Belgian Wit, a Belgian Blond (like a trippel), a pale ale, and an IPA. The name Gravity Brewing represents the goal to produce full flavored high gravity beers. As the owners say "We take our beer seriously and take ourselves lightly". Watch for them opening soon. 1150 Pine St., Unit B in Louisville.
High Hops Brewery in Windsor is a unique place. Attached to the Windsor Garden Center and the High Hops Homebrew shop, it is a family owned and operated place. They also started their own hop farm and sell many varieties of hop plants. Their goal with the brewery is to use their own hops to brew their beers. They will have to use some hops from outside sources, but for the most part it will be their home-grown hops in their beer. Cool concept for a small new start-up, huh? Loveland Aleworks opened on the 4th of July. After a long wait because of some issues with their licensing, owner/brewer Nick Callaway is just happy to be open and pouring his beer. They are adding a beer a week to their lineup until they have 10 on tap. More great beer to drink in Loveland!
Prost Brewing has set an opening date of August 23rd in Denver. There is a lot of anticipation by followers of craft beer to taste brewmaster Bill Eye's interpretation of authentic German style beers brewed on an antique copper brewhouse that was brought across the Atlantic Ocean from Breitengüßbach, a town near Bamburg, Germany. Until last year, Bill was the head brewer at the award-winning Dry Dock Brewing in Aurora. Prost is located at 2540 19th St. in Denver.
TRVE Brewing opened their Heavy Metal doors in Denver on Wed., June 27th and soon packed the house. Having trouble keeping up with thirsty customers is a good problem to have, and owner/brewer Nick Nunns is stoked. The brewery has a hard rock theme, and is accentuated by a long communal table, urging patrons to sit, sip, and converse. TRVE Brewing is located at 227 Broadway, Denver.
Two Rascals Brewing in Montrose is very close to opening. The federal license arrived, the serving tanks ordered, the brewhouse ready to brew. But partners Daniel Leonardi and Brandon Frey need to be there to make it all happen. Both are firefighters for the US Forest Service, and, as we all know too well, it’s been a busy busy fire season. We’ll update you as soon as we know, but look for Two Rascals to open up late summer - early fall.
